Mostly, the medicines which are used as drugs, deal with the treatment of depression and mental health. But the problem arises when some people start to take them continuously, or just to relax the mind or for enjoyment. Such illegal use of drugs is called drug abuse. Drug abuse harms slowly making a person ill mentally and physically, and takes a person at the stage that he cannot leave it without treatment. Drug abuse changes the mind and functioning of a person in the critical ways, influencing the molecules and cells which make up the mind. That is why a drug abuser can do almost everything to get drug.

Another name of drug abuse is “substance abuse”, which is a serious public health problem that affects almost every community and family in some way. According to a modern research, each year drug abuse results in around forty million serious illnesses or injuries among people in the United States. Abused drugs or substance abuse include Amphetamines, Anabolic steroids, Club drugs, Cocaine, Heroin, Inhalants, Marijuana, Prescription drugs, and much more.

By using abused drugs, many major social problems and plays also occur, such as drugged driving, violence, violence of law rules, stress and child abuse, and many more. Drug abuse or substance abuse can also not only lead to homelessness, crime and missed work or problems with keeping a job, but also harms unborn babies and destroys lot of other families. Different types of beneficial treatments can also be performed for drug abuse habbitual persons, but the most effective, beneficial and best way is to prevent drug abuse is in the first place. And if we do not stop it in the initial stages, then later it would be more difficult and impossible to pervent.

Wide range of drug abuse or substance abuse definitions are available in different places, which are related to taking a psychoactive drug or performance enhancing drug for a non-therapeutic or non-medical effect. Nowadays, many types of drug abuse are used. Some types of drug abuse are given above and some more commonly abused drugs include alcohol, barbiturates, methaqualone, opium alkaloids, and minor tranquilizers. Any person or citizen who uses these drugs anytime or anywhere, may lead to criminal penalty in addition to possible physical, social, and psychological harm, both strongly depending on the local jurisdiction of the relevant country.
